DALY Youth Bring Their Voices to the Lebanese Parliament
As part of their meetings with Lebanese policymakers and Members of Parliament, participants in the Democracy Academy for Lebanese Youth (DALY) visited the Lebanese Parliament on October 16 to strengthen their understanding of parliamentary work and engage directly in civic processes.
Participants toured the parliament’s main chambers and administrative offices to review its daily operations and legislative functions. Following the tour, participants joined a moderated Q&A session with MP Mark Daou. The discussion focused on parliamentary accountability, employment, education, social protection, and youth representation in public policy. MP Mark Daou addressed questions regarding legislative procedures and avenues for civic participation.
During the session, DALY participants presented policy proposals developed during their training workshops. The presentation allowed participants to share research-backed responses to regional community challenges directly with an elected official.
The Democracy Academy for Lebanese Youth (DALY) is an initiative implemented by the National Wellness Network (NWN) at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS). Funded by the European Endowment for Democracy (EED) with the support of the European Commission, the program empowers young leaders across Lebanon through civic education, leadership training, and constructive policy dialogue.
The DALY initiative is aligned with efforts at MUBS to contribute to Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations (SDGs), including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
