MUBS & NWN Host 'What Makes Me Different Than You?'
The National Wellness Network (NWN) and the Education Department at the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) hosted a theatrical performance, “What Makes Me Different Than You?” in collaboration with Qalaat Al Ataa Association and AIM Academy at the Aley campus on July 10. Students with special needs, mentored by trainer Mrs. Rola El Andari, took the stage to showcase their unique talents and abilities through a heartfelt group performance.
“This celebration had a great impact on bringing joy to the heart of every member of the troupe and their families,” Mrs. Andari said. "I extend my heartfelt thanks to MUBS for the great role it played in supporting the troupe with the moral support they always need to overcome all the difficulties they face to prove their existence and their right to reach the highest levels and the best position in a society that has long marginalized them."
The event not only gave students an opportunity to perform, but it also created a practical learning space for Education students enrolled in the “Special Needs” course at MUBS. By engaging directly with peers and observing the expertise of their trainer, they experienced inclusion as both a concept and a practical process.
"The recent play presented by the students with special needs was a truly moving experience," said Ms. Khouloud Tarabay, Instructor at the Education Department. "The students' talent shone through, demonstrating their incredible capabilities and resilience. It was a powerful reminder of the strength and beauty that resides within each individual and a profound lesson that everyone possesses unique talents and gifts, making us all equal in our inherent worth."
As Ms. Laura Ajab, Operations Manager at NWN and Executive Assistant in the Optometry Department at MUBS, noted, “This event was beyond all expectations. A mix of pride, emotions, tears, and smiles, all brought together to remind us that individuals with special needs can do outstanding things better than we do.”
This event affirms MUBS's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals).
