MUBS Hosts a Free Medical Day in NWN at the Aley Campus
On Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, the National Wellness Network (NWN) and the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) hosted a free medical day for nearly 300 patients at the NWN Aley branch. The event was held with the cooperation of Aley Municipality and in the presence of Dr. Mona Akel, an Aley Municipality representative.
Several medical doctors from various specialties were present at NWN, including Otolaryngologist Dr. Sami Abou Hamdan, Gastroenterologist Dr. Alaa Ahmadieh, Dermatologist Dr. Fadi Chaaban, Pediatricians Dr. Fadi Abou Hamdan and Dr. Maha Mahmoud, Psychologist Dr. Tharwat Monzer, GYNO Dr. Mazen Hamza, Neurologist Dr. Samer Al Jawhary, General Medicine Specialist Dr. Marwan Obied, Licensed Dietitian Ms. Hitaf Makarem, Optometrist Mrs. Rita Al Doghaly, Audiologist Mrs. Safa Bounasser Eldine, and Physiotherapist Ms. Caroleen Chyhaeb. JB Medical Services Lab sponsored the event by providing a 50% discount on blood tests.
Nursing and Public Health students from the Rashaya campus participated in the event and assisted during the medical day. This allowed them to put what they had learned in their courses into practice while also improving their patient-provider communication and education skills. Furthermore, Nutrition students conducted nutrition assessments, including body composition analyses and anthropometric measurements, to screen for malnutrition and health-related disorders. Overall, the goal of the day was to raise public awareness and prevent disease by bringing health care services closer to the community.
This event affirms MUBS’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically, SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals). For more about MUBS's efforts toward achieving UN SDGs, visit our page: www.mubs.edu.lb/sdg
