MUMC & NWN Deliver Vital Healthcare for Displaced Communities in Need
In a bid to address the pressing health needs of vulnerable populations, the Modern University Medical Center (MUMC) has partnered with the National Wellness Network (NWN) and the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to launch a series of essential health services. This initiative is part of the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) “سوا نحنا أقوى” campaign, which aims to promote well-being, prevent disease, and provide vital healthcare to displaced individuals in collective shelters.
A team of medical professionals and support staff from MUMC has been visiting schools, including Mazraat El Chouf, Ain Wazein, Kfarnabrakh, and Mokhtara Official Schools. To date, they have provided free vaccinations, distributed chronic and acute medications, and conducted lice inspections for over 500 individuals, ranging from 1 to 85 years old.
Displacement can have devastating consequences for vulnerable groups, including newborns, lactating mothers, and those with chronic illnesses. The MUMC team is working tirelessly to address these critical needs, providing vital treatments and support to those who have lost access to their medications and medical records.
According to MUMC Operations Manager & Optometrist Mrs. Laura Ajab, the campaign's long-term goals include achieving a high level of immunization among displaced children and preventing any deterioration in health by providing monthly medication and health services. “Our ultimate goal is to continue serving the community and meeting the health needs of the displaced population, making them feel at home and reducing the stress of being in a new environment,” she said.
Moving forward, MUBS is committed to addressing the needs of as many displaced people as possible. Through primary care services, essential pharmaceutical services, and health education, it aims to improve outcomes for displaced families and empower them to rebuild their lives.
The event is aligned with MUBS’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals).
