NWN Commemorates Mother's Day with a Discussion on Motherhood
“Mother’s love is peace. It need not be acquired, it need not be deserved.” – Erich Fromm
A panel discussion on the theme of mothers and education was organized by the National Wellness Network (NWN) at the Aley campus, sponsored by the Municipality of Aley and in partnership with therapist and psychoanalyst Dr. Tharwat Dliqan Monzer. The event consisted of interventions and panel discussions on multiple topics related to the theme of motherhood.
During the meeting, Hitaf Makarem, Executive Assistant at the School of Health Sciences (SHS) and Operation Manager at NWN Aley, welcomed the attendees with a speech and introduced the meeting's agenda, which focused on mothers. Social activist Salma Yammine, the founder of the Salma Maternity Wear brand, and midwife Rola Thebian from the Lebanese Red Cross were among the participants who discussed significant issues related to breastfeeding and mothers. The event was attended by around 150 women, including social activists, mothers of Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS) students, and representatives from various organizations, such as the Druze Women's Association, Charity Everywhere Association, LDC Association, Reem Association, Dorcas Association, "Hand in Hand" Association, "Jabr Al Khawater" Association, and "Sweetest Sabaya" Campaign.
Following the meeting, free examinations were provided, which included a thorough nutrition examination with Dietitian Hitaf Makarem and a comprehensive vision examination with Optometrist Dana Allaham. The Dawrati Association and NWN also distributed gifts to the attendees. The objective of the meeting was to express gratitude and appreciation to mothers and to highlight significant topics related to life and education, with the goal of enhancing mothers' perspectives, listening to their ideas and opinions, and supporting them in coping with societal and life challenges.
This event affirms MUBS's commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically, SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals). For more about MUBS's efforts toward achieving UN SDGs, visit our page: www.mubs.edu.lb/sdg
